The 2019 Provincial Convention was held on May 11, 2019 at Slemon Park Hotel and Convention Center, Summerside PEI. Highlights included naming the annual award winners.
Jessica Reeves from Freetown, PEI was named as the WI Woman in Agriculture Recognition Award recipient. Reeves has been instrumental bringing agricultural awareness in the education system, and promoting local produce in her cultary classes. Ms. Reeves has also served on provincial and national organizations through both Atlantic and Canada Young Farmers’ programs known for celebrating excellence in Canadian Agriculture. She has received numerous awards and has been featured as a spokesperson for promotion of agriculture. Ms. Reeves also sits on numerous other national committees, councils and boards within the agricultural industry. This recognition is for an Island woman making a major contribution to the PEI agriculture sector and is presented bi-annually by the PEI Women’s Institute.
Joan Homans of Sherbrooke WI was this year’s recipient of the provincial Adelaide Hoodless Award of Honour for her tireless and ongoing commitment to Women’s Institute for PEI.
Kimball Wood, of Charlottetown, was presented with the Erland Lee Award of Appreciation - an award granted from the Federated Women's Institute of Canada. This recognition is dedicated to a man who most exemplifies the qualities of Erland Lee, who assisted in the founding of Women's Institute. Mr. Wood was nominated by the Greater Charlottetown WI.
Other highlights included a presentation on container gardening from Kool Breeze, and the installation of the new board for 2019-2021.
2018 Provincial Convention
Thanks to all who attended the Provincial Convention at Rodd Royalty in Charlottetown on Saturday, May 26th.
Provincial awards were presented at the recent PEIWI Provincial Convention held at the Rodd Royalty which saw close to 130 delegates representing the approximate 75 branches across Prince Edward Island.
Jacquie Laird, past president of the PEIWI board, was delighted to announce Margie Stewart of East Point WI as this year’s recipient of the provincial Adelaide Hoodless Award of Honour for her tireless and ongoing commitment to Women’s Institute for PEI.
Audrey Glover and Frances Tremere were also honoured in receiving the Golden Book of Recognition Award during the recent provincial convention. This award is presented to those who continually make major contributions to their branches.
Bruce Brine, another deserving recipient, was presented with the provincial Erland Lee Award of Appreciation - an award granted from the Federated Women's Institute of Canada. This recognition is dedicated to a man who most exemplifies the qualities of Erland Lee, who assisted in the founding of Women's Institute.
Also during the PEIWI Provincial Convention a cheque for $ $13,388.06 was presented to Liz Maynard of the Prince County Hospital Foundation. The committee led by Dr. Liz Spangler extends a sincere thank you for the numerous donations, ticket purchasers and volunteers.
Collection of purses with hygiene products will be given to Betty Begg for distribution through Gifts from the Heart Inc., a non-profit organization helping Islanders in need.
A monetary collection took place and presented to one of The Honourable Lieutenant favorite charities.
The 2017 Provincial Convention will be held at Credit Union Place in Summerside on Saturday, June 3.
Some of the highlights include a panel on mental health with Joanne Crampton, Commanding Officer, RCMP; Verna Ryan, director of Mental Health and Addictions, Health PEI; Alice Taylor, Handle with Care; and Jackie Doran-MacLeod, Adult Protection Consultant, Health PEI.
In the afternoon, Chris Ortenburger, committee member, will lead a discussion called “Daytrips and Staycations: Sharing Your Island “Gem Collection” where members will reveal their favourite locations on Prince Edward Island.
An interactive delegate session will be on sustainable tourism on PEI. Displays and exhibits for information will also be featured (limited tables available).
Donations will be made to those in need - please think on giving a gently used purse filled from your branch with necessities such as toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products etc.

2016 Provincial Convention
The 2016 PEIWI provincial convention was held at the Stratford Town Hall on March 28th, 2016. For the first time PEIWI will be offering members and branches an opportunity to book a table to showcase and or sell items. The Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW), Canada Representative leader, Sheila Needham will be the keynote speaker. Registration Form now available - deadline is May 13, 2016!

2015 Provincial Convention

The 2014 provincial convention was held on Saturday, May 24 at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre in Charlottetown from 9am to 3:15pm. Highlights this year include a panel on Drugs, guest speaker Keith MacLean on immediate postive impact on one's life and guest enterntainment.
PEIWI wishes to extend a special thanks to the Drug Panel Members - Judge Nancy Orr, Constable Earl Woods, RCMP, and Michele Dorsey, Deputy Minister and Deputy Attrorney General.

Rotating from provincial to county events, 2012 played host to three county conventions for WI members in Slemon Park, Stanhope and Souris in May 2012. In 2013 the provincial convention was held in Summerside, and after a member poll in the fall of 2013, it has been decided to go with one annual convention per year.
