Since 1924, the PEIWI has played an integral part in Old Home Week. The PEIWI Handcrafts, Horticulture and Arts Show is an annual competition of arts and crafts submitted from Islanders artisans. The Premier’s Craft Education Award is comprised of three $1,000 prize to fund training and skill development of chosen artists and craft on Prince Edward Island.
Period of Purple Crying® is a prevention program to help educate parents and caregivers about normal infant crying and the dangers of shaking an infant. Members are asked to support this program by knitting or crocheting purple baby caps. Hats are still needed. Please inquire or drop off at the WI office.

New Year's Day LeveeThe Board of Directors of PEI Women’s Institute in conjunction with the Farm Centre Board and PEI 4-H looks forward to once again hosting their annual WI Levee on January 1, 2018. The Levee will be held at the Farm Centre, 420 University Avenue in Charlottetown from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A mini brunch will be served, and if last year’s reviews were any indication, it could be coined WI had the best refreshments on the Levee schedule. PEIWI is also pleased the PEI 4H will be joining this year’s levee as they kick off their 100th year anniversary.

Island Product Youth Cooking Contest
Do you know someone in grades 7 through to 12 who likes to cook or bake? This is a perfect contest for them! PEIWI is gearing up for the 4th Annual Cooking Contest for students in grades 7-12 with a deadline of December 15, 2017. The final round cookoff event will be held during WI’s Founder's Day in February 2018. Download the entry form or read on for more details and the recipe form.
2017 WI Handcraft, Horticulture and Arts ShowThe 94th Handcrafts, Horticulture, Arts Show at the provincial exhibition is scheduled for August 9 to 18, 2018.
For preplanning for 2018, the 2017 handbook is available online for preliminary reference. It includes the details on the Premier's Craft Education Award giving three grants of $1,000 each. The hard copy of the handbook will be available early in the New Year at the WI office at 40 Enman Crescent, Room 105.

Spring Is in the Air Gala DinnerThe 2017 Gala Dinner held on April 7 at Red Shores in Charlottetown was a great success. PEI Women's Institute is pleased to announce proceeds will be going to the Community Hospital in O’Leary and the Western Hospital in Alberton. The presentation of $8,310 to each hospital took place June 3 in Summerside.
Pam Cook was the lucky ticket winner during the recent draw for the prize winning hand stitched quilt. Proceeds from the raffle will go to the Western Hospital in Alberton and the O'Leary Community Hospital.
Rural Beautification SocietyFor over 72 years, the Rural Beautification Society has been encouraging and rewarding Islanders for being good caretakers of their properties. $15,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded in 16 different competitions such as Farm Home Improvement, Community Building Improvement,Home and Commercial Flower Gardens, Home Owner Vegetable Gardens, Reuse-Recycle-Repurpose and many more!
