Premier Wade MacLauchlan presents the Premier's Craft Education Award to (R-L) Marie Kenny, Maureen Shea, and Natalie Loo during WI Awards Ceremony at Old Home Week.

Since 1924, the PEIWI has played an integral part in Old Home Week. The PEIWI Handcrafts, Horticulture and Arts Show is an annual competition of arts and crafts submitted from Islanders artisans. The Premier’s Craft Education Award is a $3000 prize to fund training and skill development of the chosen crafter and craft on Prince Edward Island.

Women's Institute members are invited to click your needles together for PEI babies

Period of Purple Crying® is a prevention program to help educate parents and caregivers about normal infant crying and the dangers of shaking an infant. Members are asked to support this program by knitting or crocheting purple baby caps. Hats are still needed. Please inquire or drop off at the WI office.

2017 WI Handcraft, Horticulture and Arts Show

The 93rd Handcrafts, Horticulture, Arts Show at the provincial exhibition is scheduled for August 10 to 19, 2017. For your reference the 2017 handbook is available online. It includes the details on the Premier's Craft Education Award with a deadline of June 29 for three grants of $1,000 each.  The hard copy of the handbook is available in the WI office at 40 Enman Crescent, Room 105. Further information and registration forms.

Quilt Raffle for Western Region Hospitals


Tickets are available on this gorgeous prize winning hand stitched quilt. Tickets are only $5 and available from provincial Board members or by visiting the WI Office. Proceeds to Western Hospital in Alberton and the O'Leary Community Hospital. Draw will take place September 6.

Spring Is in the Air Gala Dinner 

The 2017 Gala Dinner held on April 7 at Red Shores in Charlottetown was a great success.  PEI Women's Institute is pleased to announce proceeds will be going to the Community Hospital in O’Leary and the Western Hospital in Alberton. The presentation will take place June 3 in Summerside.

Rural Beautification Society

Prince Edward Island Rural Beautification Society Launches 2017 Competition Book.
For 72 years, the Rural Beautification Society has been encouraging and rewarding Islanders for being good caretakers of their properties. $15,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded in 16 different competitions such as Farm Home Improvement, Community Building Improvement,Home and Commercial Flower Gardens, Home Owner Vegetable Gardens, Reuse-Recycle-Repurpose and many more!
Competitions Books are available at all Access PEI locations, WI Office, Veseys Seeds and many garden centers, or check the Rural Beautification Society website for a complete list of all competitions, entry forms and judging guidelines.  www.peirbs.ca


WI Island Product Cooking Contest

PEIWI hosted the 3rd Annual Cooking Contest for students in grades 7-12. The final round cookoff event was held during WI’s Founder's Day on February 15, 2017. View online for a complete list of winners.

Fall Workshops

A variety of topics will be explored this fall, including the following sessions and speakers: John Robertson of "The Butler Is In" a segment airing on CBC radio, will speak on protocols;  AnnieLee MacDonald from Canadian Hard of Hearing Association will have a session on hearing called "Pardon Me, What did you say?"; and a food demonstration will round out the evenings. All sessions will be offered at three locations across PEI in October. WI Active Like A Girl Walk/Run

The run is scheduled again for fall of 2018. 2016 results are at www.runningroom.com or the PEI Road Runners website.
